A Snowed In Christmas

We had a very different Christmas this year...again. Instead of me nearly burning down Kelly and Philip's house while I was on bed rest, Kevin and I were like everyone else: snowed in! Kevin's family were supposed to come over to our house on Wednesday night for Christmas dinner, and Thursday we were going to head to my mom's. But NOOOOO....we had to get hit with a super snow storm.

Luckily, my aunts Marilyn and Paula brought their families (and Christmas dinner) to our place on Christmas. It was a lot of fun, and so nice to have them here. It was a bit shaky on them getting here, but they made it!

While it totally stunk to not be at my mom's for Christmas, it was nice to have the kids at home with just Kevin and I. Renee hooked up her laptop with a webcam in mom's living room, and I was able to see everything going on,including Isabel, Alaina, and Alice opening their gifts. It was so cool. While I wasn't seriously there, it kinda felt like I was! I love technology. Philip opened Kevin's and my gifts, too. I can't wait to use my new label maker!! Kevin got "The Hangover," and I am sure we will be enjoying that flick over and over again. :)

We didn't get too carried away with gifts for the kids this year. First, they aren't going to remember. Second, they don't need anything! We have way too many toys as it is. Oh, and they have a birthday next month, too. Yikes...one year old.........

I haven't been out of my house at all since I got home from work on Tuesday. I can't wait to go to work.

I hope you enjoy our pictures from Christmas!

Seth got pooped on...TWICE!

Today I went home over my lunch hour, and as I walked in I heard "OH, NO!" Lily had apparently pooped so much that it went up her back. But she didn't mind, so she kept playing and Seth's foot and leg ended up covered in poop. Sara took Lily into the tub to get cleaned, Renee took Seth to get cleaned, Ricky took a very sad and needy Logan, and Carter went into the pack and play while I cleaned a very poopy spot on the carpet. Then all was fine and dandy. We were eating lunch after a few minutes when Renee said, "OH, NO! Not again!" This time, Carter had poop up his back. Sara took him into the tub for cleaning, Ricky had Seth, Renee had Lily and Logan. I was, once again, cleaning more poop on the carpet. Then Ricky pointed out that Seth, once again, got pooped on. It was all over his leg. So I took his pants, and as I did I saw poop on the baby gate, and more poop on the carpet. Awesome. Ricky is now shampooing the carpet in the living room while the kids are all clean. Logan is the only baby who hasn't pooped on Seth today...we are still waiting on that one. I, on the other hand, went back to the office!

Tonight the kids were in really great moods. They were so playful!! We were having so much fun playing. Well, actually I was a jungle gym. I tried reading them books, but didn't get too far. You can tell it was fun!

one small step for Carter

One giant leap for the Fab Four!

You guessed it! Carter took his first steps last night. Twice, he took three steps. I was so glad I was there to see it.

They are moving right along...literally!

Recent Pictures

As always, they are in birth order....Seth, Lily, Logan, and Carter. The last picture is the kids with my mom. That was tricky!

More teeth....

So, Seth and Lily now have two teeth each, and Carter still has seven. Therefore, Logan is the only one I let chew on my hand anymore!

The kids are turning into monkeys, I am pretty sure. They are ALL OVER the house. I took the day off yesterday to shampoo the carpets, since they don't spit up as much these days.

The AEA was over working with the kids last week, and she said she was amazed as to how well they are doing. They are totally on the mark for "regular" 9 month old babies, and in some areas, they are ahead of the game! This is a big relief, no doubt.

That's all for now!

Weekend Update

Lily FINALLY cut her first tooth, after like 7 months of teething (or maybe she just cries a lot) last week. And as of my lunch hour today, Seth has his first tooth! It looks like his second won't be long, either. Both are coming from the top, so it does look kinda funny. But next to Carter's 7 teeth, anything will do! :)

Speaking of Carter, he pulls himself up to stand at EVERY opportunity. EVERY one. Logan is really getting around with crawling, too. They are so mobile!

Grandpa La Fleur brought over 4 pumpkins the other day, and we assigned them to each of the babies based on the shape of the pumpkin's likeness to the shape of the baby's head. Uncle Brian had fun helping me. We are not going to carve them, but I am drawing on faces with marker. It worked out alright.

I am off to Spencer this weekend for the high school youth rally, which is going to be a blast. Of course, I will miss my babies dearly!

Have a great weekend!

NICU Reunion

On Saturday, my brother Philip and my mom helped me bring the kids back to Creighton Hospital to attend a NICU reunion. It was great to see the nurses that helped our kids grow and stay healthy! Here is a picture that Philip took before we left his place....it's too bad Carter is blurry, but the way he moves, I don't know how we will ever get any good pictures!! The other picture is their 6 month photo, compliments of Genelli's Studio here in Sioux City. Yes, the kids are ALWAYS in birth order, if I am the one taking the picture!

Steak It!

Carter will be ordering steak soon, as he now has two more teeth! He is up to four now. The others are still gummy, but we know that kids do this stuff at different times.

The kids are doing great...nothing new, except that today they are EIGHT MONTHS OLD! I can't believe it. Man, time flies when you are short of sleep. :)

The kids and I went to my mom's Labor Day weekend for the Hellman Family Reunion. It was great fun. The Hellmans are awesome, and the babies like being the center of attention. My cousin Jodi has a daughter who is about the same age as our kids, and I have already decided that she, Alice, and Lily are going to be best friends. I'll hopefully get to post some of those pictures soon.

Peace out.

Seth is dancing, Lily striking a pose, Logan chewing on his favorite toy, and Carter posing for Gerber.

Carter Crawled!!

Last night, instead of sleeping like he was SUPPOSED to, Carter learned to crawl! He hasn't mastered it yet, but he will soon!!

The kids have been sick all week, and it has not been fun. But they all slept well last night...finally, so maybe we have turned the corner.

We are going to Algona for the weekend for the Hellman Family Reunion. We are excited big time!

Great Grandpa turns 82!

Tonight we celebrated my grandpa's 82nd birthday. He comes over at least three times a week to spend time with the babies and to help us out. He is the best at putting the babies to sleep, especially when they are out of sorts. This is a picture of him with the Fab Four, left to right: Seth, Lily, Logan, and Carter (it's their birth order, of course!). The cake was delicious, too.

Volunteer BBQ

Here are some picture from our Thank You BBQ. These are the awesome people who have helped us take care of the babies during the day, overnights, or planned the Lawton fundraiser! We had good fun, and awesome pork loin (compliments of Mike Dailey).

Carter has a tooth!!

Lately Carter has been biting on EVERYTHING! And let me tell you, it kinda hurts. Anyway, Monday night I checked him for teeth, and there was nothing there. Then when I got home Tuesday night, there it was! He had totally cut his first tooth!

Oh, and Logan gave himself a hickey on his wrist. Funny kid.

6 Months!!!

Today the babies celebrate their 6 month birthday! I can't believe it! In these six months they have learned to breathe on their own, take a bottle, fight off Influenza A, roll over, and grow one tooth! They are as adorable as ever.

Kevin and I would like to thank our family, friends, volunteers, and strangers who have helped us along the way. We absolutely could not (and cannot) do it without you.

Here are some then and now pictures for you....
